Apfelbrot   (Apple Bread)

4 large Apples
1 1/2 cups Sugar
1 1/2 cups Seedless Raisins, packed
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
2 teaspoons Lebkuchen Seasoning
1 tablespoon Cocoa Powder
1 1/2 cups Hazelnuts, ground
3/4 cups Dried Figs
4 cups All-Purpose Flour
5 teaspoons Baking Powder


Wash and peel apples. Remove core. Chop into small pieces. Mix with sugar. Let stand overnight.

The next day, add raisins, cinnamon, cloves, Lebkuchen seasoning, cocoa powder, and ground nuts to the apples and mix in.

Chop figs and mix in to apple mixture.

Combine flour and baking powder. Knead flour into apple mixture.

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

Grease a loaf pan. Place dough into pan and press into edges. Bake for about 60-70 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool before removing from pan.
